I never really thought it could happen to someone like me, but it did. A prescription drug addiction can happen to anyone is what I was told. Some people just hooked on the drugs that were either prescribed for them or they find their way into someone else’s medicine and get their fix that way. Either way it is a truly dangerous way to get your fix and prescription drug addiction is a serious thing in America. It’s numbers are actually growing exponentially and it isn’t getting easier to treat its victims. People get hooked on prescription drug addiction a lot of times because it’s easier to conceal. Let’s face it. It’s not like they’re smoking a joint or lighting up a crack pipe. If you see someone taking some prescription drugs you probably won’t assume that they’re addicted to drugs. A prescription drug addiction can ruin a person’s life and the signs can almost be undetectable. If you or a loved one are suffering from a prescription drug addiction then you know what you need to do.

It was weird seeing a guy you once admired and looked up to confined to all those wires and tubes. Granted I knew that his injuries looked worse than they were, but it was really hard visualizing anyone making a comeback from something like that.

The doctors were extremely frank with us when they broke down their idea of how the rehabilitation would go. They said that my friend would never make it back to 100% and there would be an enormous amount of pain linked to his recovery. It was sad to me because after all that he done for me there wasn’t really much I could do for him. It really sucked. I guess that’s why I never really thought anything bad about the pills.

I knew the best thing I could offer him was my undying support, so I didn’t regale him with my views on synthetic pain killers and their inevitable way of creating serious prescription drug addiction. I’ve always believed that out of all the addictions to have a prescription drug addiction was the sleeper of them all. The masses were just starting to become aware long after I had felt it’s strain on my own family. I wanted to tell him, but I just couldn’t decide if that was more important than seeing my friend stave some of the pain he was destined to endure. Hindsight is truly 20/20.
