Drug intervention is an attempt by family members and friends to help a chemically dependent person get help for his or her addiction, and get them into a residential drug treatment center. The purpose of a drug addiction intervention is to help the drug addict see the physical and mental destruction their addiction creates. Interventions are usually successful and often enable the abuser to move on to successful drug and alcohol treatment programs. As with all addictions, drug and alcohol abusers are usually the last to admit there is a problem. Or, the abuser may realize there is a problem but just cannot seem to seek help. Family, friends and careers also suffer and can be destroyed by the abuser

I remember going to a drug and alcohol rehab center and it sucked. I mean it sucked because I had to be there. I hated knowing that I had a drinking problem and that everybody I that I knew was aware that I had a problem. My time at a alcohol treatment center basically told everyone that I was a true F’up. It sucked. Don’t you think it would suck? I think it did. I mean, how would you feel if you were so used to doing something that it was almost like breathing and then you realized that it was destroying your life? I guess that’s a lot to chew on but that’s what my meager existence was like. It took a while for me to catch on, but when I did I was smart enough to make an executive decision. That decision was to get to a alcohol rehab center and fast. So, eventually that’s what I did. And yeah, it did suck, but it wasn’t the treatment that sucked. It was the fact that I didn’t really see how bad my life was becoming. But that’s all ego, right. Anywho, I got treatment at the alcohol rehab center and everything got better. It definitely wasn’t that simple, but I’ll spare you the details. Either way, if that’s where you’re at, you know where you need to be. Nuff said.
